Blog layout changed - New Stuff is at the TOP

Hi all

Please leave a message to show your support. thanks Col x

March - April Interim

18th May 2009

Here I go again, yes I’m sorry, so many people are saying to me,‘I keep checking the blog but there is nothing new.’
I know you are all wondering and it must be really frustrated but I will try and get something posted soon!

Dennis’s address has changed, as of his Birthday (28th April) he moved to a rehab ward, so he’s now on St. George’s (not St. Andrew’s) more later!

St. George’s Ward

Spinal Unit
Stoke Mandeville Hospital
Mandeville Road

Aylesbury

Buckinghamshire
HP21 8AL

Dennis is progressing, everything takes so much effort and he tires easily but he is a lot more positive in his attitude and just wants to come home, so amongst everything else we are desperately trying to finalise plans / funding for the extension, hence little time for ‘blog’ writing!

We know you are all thinking of us, it means a lot to us. xxxx

Howdy Dennis,
I don't know if you remember me or not. I meet you at the Malhour Cave Meeting with Allen here in Easteren Oregon, USA. I heard you have had some tough times. Don't let it get to you. It will get better I am sure. I still think of the fun time I had with both of you fellows. Drop me a line when you get time. I will keep you and yours in my prayers.

Your US friend, Jim Godier ( The Watermelon Man )

It is just great to see a photo of you Dennis - and looking so good. Great news too about moving wards and now into rehab. It is all a step closer to getting home.
James is up in Durham doing chemistry resits and Jessica is knee deep in law books as her finals loom so we are walking around on tenterhooks with fingers crossed too! Catherine is very much enjoying her role at HSBC. We look forward to catching up on all your news. Love Lindsey and Roger

Morning Dennis

Good to see the birthday photo - you're looking well, and it's great to see you out of that bed!

Looks like you are near a window so hopefully you can see the lovely sunshine we have at the moment.

Hoping to be up to see you soon.

Hello Dennis

How are things? Half term almost over for me, sadly. Still, only 6 more weeks or so and then 6 weeks holiday. Let's hope this glorious weather lasts.

It's my birthday today - so I'm taking it easy all day: no diet today!

Love to you and Hazel.

Hi Dennis, loved the birthday picture! It was good to see Hazel & Colin the other day. Charlie was on good form too.

Lots happening in the background to spring you out of SMH in the not too distance future for a bit of R & R somewhere else. Not sure if other readers are aware but you can now also e-mail Dennis directly at dennistporter@hotmail.com It might take him a bit of time to reply while he finds his glasses!

Hello Dennis well I am back off holiday and reading about your progress, it seem that you are doing fine and with your sons wizardry with computers you will soon be able to communicate better, that is until you regain your own wonderful singing voice, I await to hear your rendering of” On the first day of Christmas” and we all remember what that sounded like at Georges Lodge, (who will ever forget it) my head still hurts.
Problem with the cab when I got back, the two metal straps that hold the fuel tank on both rusted away at the same time (all that salt on the roads)
Luckily Madeleine saw them hanging down and alerted me to them, got it fixed at Putney Bridge next day.
I am now thinking of letting it out, I rally do not do a lot now, just have to find a good driver. Well mate take care, all the best for now.

Hello Dennis

Hope things are good with you. Hope you are better than you were the other day. The new ward is nicer than the old one - although I'm sure you can't wait til you get a change o scenery.

Keep up the progress. Love Cousin Carol, Paul & Alice xxx
